A Peering Agreement with SIPphone

Enabling your company to offer free global internet calling

Introduction

SIPphone, as you may know, offers a FREE dial tone and phone number for SIP hardware and softphone developers. The zero-configuration dial tone works out of the box, so when the customer brings home a hardware adapter from any retail store, plug it in, they can start making and receiving calls immediately.

We are interested in building a simple peering relationship with your company. By peering with SIPphone, your customers will be able to make and receive calls with SIPphone users. The most obvious benefits are these:

  • The more people you connect with, the more minutes that will be used on your phones.
  • The more people you connect with, the more useful and productive your phone network will be.

The Steps

If you already have a SIP enabled gateway,
Please fill out our information form and we can get started immediately.

If you currently do not have a SIP 2.0 compliant gateway,
Please visit our section on setting up a SIP compliant gateway.

  1. Set up a SIP 2.0 compliant gateway.
  2. Configure gateway to route all 1-747-XXX-XXXX & +1-222-XXX-XXXX numbers to 1747XXXXXXX@proxy01.sipphone.com & 1222XXXXXXX@proxy01.sipphone.com, respectively. This is not a NANPA assigned area code, it is just how we identify calls to our network
  3. Optional: Set up gateway to dynamically route calls using SIPphone's peering network. This allows you to call not only the SIPphone network, but also all of our other peering partners and route calls to their network for free
  4. Notify us of phone numbers on your network. This can be done as blocks (e.g. 1-858-534-XXXX) or as a full individual list updated regulary. We will add these numbers or ranges of numbers to our proxy server, so that SIPphone numbers can call your network of numbers (see our current network numbers)
  5. Now that you are set-up, please fill out a Peering Sign-Up form (if you have not already done so), this is necessary before we will be able to exchange voice traffic

Once you have set up peering, you can verify that it's working, by calling 1-747-474-5000. This should result in you hearing a recorded message welcoming you to SIPphone.

Please also read our requirements for PSTN-to-SIPphone calls. This will ensure proper handling of calls made from the PSTN world to our phone network.
