SIP Minutes Calls Now Connect up to 40% Faster
SIP Minutes users will notice that the time needed to connect a call has been reduced by 25-40%, or up to 8 seconds faster, thanks to some improvements in our infrastructure. We doubled capacity to accommodate the significant increase in traffic we experienced last month. These are just the first steps we are taking to increase the speed, reliability and quality of your SIP Minutes calls.

New Access Numbers Make Receiving Calls From the PSTN Easy
Starting this week, we have significantly added to the pool of access numbers for incoming calls, thanks to a new partnership with PointOne. Access numbers is one of the three ways to let people call your SIPphone:
- People can call you from another SIPphone or a partner network
- People can call you from a PSTN phone to your Virtual Number
- People on a PSTN phone can call an Access Number, where they can enter your SIPphone number
Access numbers are now available in America's biggest cities:
Here is how access numbers work:
- The person calling you dials the access number closest to them. If it is a local number, the call connects as a local call
- At the prompt, they dial "1" to indicate they are calling a SIPphone user
- At the next prompt for the "I.M. ID", they dial your SIPphone number, say 1-747-474-5000. The call will connect immediately
Access numbers are a great way to call a SIPphone from a mobile phone, and they give your friends, family and coworkers an easy way to make local calls to your SIPphone, no matter where you are in the world. The new access numbers work with SIP hardware adapters and our free SIP softphones, like Xten and PhoneGaim. The existing access numbers in Michigan are still available.
